People are still thinking having a Web Site is the answer for their small business. And as we all know it can help... But can you make a living with a web site?

As a small business owner, I have always been excited about the exposure a web site can give to a small business like mine. A web site can put a business in front of millions of people that you would have never had the chance or opportunity to contact.

But as most small business owners do not understand, the time and work involved. Most think and are led to believe building a fancy graphic loaded site and post it to the web is all that is required--Wrong answer. Tons of hours and effort goes into a good website, just like any other endeavor, you must have a passion for your work. As soon as you get things going, somebody changes the marketing rules; the search engines pull from different areas, or whatever. That is why it is so important to be with a good, flexible, innovative and business oriented company, like mine. Companies that are likely to be long-term winners, thriving on exciting opportunities presented by our rapid changing world.

The other option is to join on with a website that works. I have had web sites for six years now, maybe even longer, and this one is one of my best. Like anything else, you need to offer the people something of real value, something they can use and continue to build on. Content is and will always be KING.

Do not give up, I currently have more than 1200 pages, some make money while others generate nothing. I keep tweaking the marketing, if that doesn't work, I adjust accordingly. It's not me making the market, it's the people, if it doesn't work fix it.

The days of just throwing up a web site and people signing up or buying from you are gone, so, do not waste your time. Do not be fooled, because building and maintaining a good website is a full time job, don't let people tell you just work it 2 hours a month, there is a lot of competition out there. You need to be on top of your game and your marketing ideas, without spending your life savings.
