The Huck Finn books are being edited to exclude the "N" word. Do you think this should be done or not, considering it was written in 1884 and is a classic?

Should, then, all books be edited to exclude offending words?

I think you said it right here: "We need to be more mature and look at the big picture, the education of our children!! Do we have nothing better to do than to squabble over something like this?? Do you have any idea how many times the Bible has been revised, edited?? Think about it!!!" -- GOT TO BE MORE CAREFUL.

Whatever happened to the fun of things? A bitter pill to swallow, why not do it with sugar/honey?

What about intergrated marriages, intergrated schools intergrated marriages? If we think forcing people to attend school together was a good idea, why not take the short cut and do inter-racial marriages? You ain't got to stay with one but you have to marry one. What about the rebel flag? The everybody would enjoy it...

To edit Mark Twain's book, 'Huck Finn' is actually a very good idea. Many are yelling "Censorship!" How can that be? The original one, the 'classic', is still available, if you so desire to own it. They are not being replaced and the original ones are not being destroyed. Here is a news flash! It has been banned from our schools for years!!!

Twain's book has been one of the most misunderstood novels of all time, continuously being accused of perpetuating prejudiced attitudes. They have been some of the most banned books from our schools, from our young readers, along with 'Killing a Mockingbird' because of the racial references. Did you know they are also removing the usage of the word 'injun'?

Race DOES matter in the 21st century! Anything we can do to make racial relationships better we need to at least keep an open mind. If this puts the book into the hands of kids who would not otherwise be allowed to read it due to it being banned from our schools, then maybe we should applaud someone brave enough to do something about it. The original is changed for the benefit of those who, for one reason or another, are not mature enough to handle it, but as long as it does not affect the original, what's the problem!? We need to be more mature and look at the big picture, the education of our children!! Do we have nothing better to do than to squabble over something like this?? Do you have any idea how many times the Bible has been revised, edited?? Think about it!!!
