Shani Davis of the United States became the first man to win back-to-back 1,000-metre Olympic speedskating gold medals, defending his title on Wednesday at the Vancouver Winter Games.
"I'm tired," Davis said. "Tough race but I was able to do it."
No man had won back-to-back Olympic 1,000m speedskating crowns and no man had won consecutive Olympic titles at any distance since Norway's Johann Olaf Koss did it at 1,500m in 1992 and 1994.
Four years ago at Turin, Shani Davis became the first African-American athlete to win an individual gold at the Winter Games. This time, he simply wanted to be known for his skating. Periodart
