We Deserve the Same
If you are of African American decent and don't believe this evil monster still exist, try living in Alabama.
My cousin and I recently visited a upper class steak house. We were seated and told our server would be with us right away,(the server was a young white college student. 25 mins later we were still waiting to be served while everyone around us and after we entered were waited on right away.
The young lady who seated us noticed how we were being ignored and took our order herself. We sat at the table quietly while all this occured.
Another issue came up at the clinic where I use to work, one of my co-worker was looking for an apartment(She was Black) I had her call the complex where I knew there was an opening across the breeze way from me,She was told there were no openings and they were not taking applications. Ten minutes later we had another co-worker call(she was white) and she was told to come on in to fill out an application and that there were 4 openings. Housing discrimination!
I grew up in the Cradle of the Confedrecy and see Racism every day in some way shape or form. My son is a machinist and he learned to use a new machine; in 1 week mastered it and was the only one in the plant who could operate it. He trained a White guy how to do the machine and the white guy got promoted and made many errors on what he was trained to do.
The color of your skin still matters in America; Home of the Free Land of the Brave. Whether it is on a job or everday living experiences it is still alive and well. If you can close you eyes an stop looking at color, we are all the same with the same problems and issues.
President Obama is judged daily about the way this country is run, but President Bush was not. What is the difference? Both are men running a country where they are basically figure heads, where if Congress or the House of Representives don't agree with a plan it becomes null an void.
We must take it upon our selves to make changes in our lives and if you look hard and pay attention, RACISM is one of our biggest errors as Americans.
The Japanse suffered in the US and they are recognized for their hardship, The Jews are recognized and as a History Buff I have seen the destruction they under went just because they were Jewish.
I have never seen the History Channel address Slavery. We are only about 5 or 6 generations from those abusive days and being refered too as lower than live-stock. We have fought for everthing we have in this country and let's face it, the true Americans are Indians, the ones that were here when the Mayflower landed for those people to have freedom of religion.
We are all immigrants but, most people came here on their own because they wanted a better life. We were brought here against our will to be a form of slave to do what others did not want to do and treated as such. If you have not lived it you can not appreciate the trial and errors that we as a people have endured. If we don't address it it will be ignored.
