My Value to You

It's troubling how insignificant we see our roles, our responsibilities, our contributions to life and each other. More for less?

If you don't see it, how do you use it? If you just take racial tensions alone, what do they indicate?

More for less, is it what I think or what they think about me? We want more for less work but we want more jobs? What kind of oxymoron is that?  Ain’t nobody going to treat you better than you treat yourself? Why are we so down on ourselves? Where is the line between selfless and selfish?

So much depression and stress, why if we have our priorities in order? So much pressure to belong to this group, so much competition for your money, so much so it is increasingly difficult to be yourself? Do you think we will ever finish paying for utilities? How does one collect what is made available in nature and demand his fellow man pay him for what has already been provided? What good is paying for anything you can never pay for?

Our rationale for economic and social progress is so uncertain we have little faith in our most prize possession, each other. You can’t trust nobody, even less than yesterday, especially those sworn to protect and serve. The price keeps rising and the value keeps declining, where is this going? Our fascination for things has evolved into an obsession with things, cell phones, music, cars, houses, buildings; money keeps us so preoccupied we have not a clue about living life. We don’t appreciate nothing and abuse everything. Do you know how much trash we create daily? Now litter is a problem and if we can’t control that then you already know.

We are more concerned about things than we are people. We have an opportunity to have more for less but we choose to have less for more and the crazy part about this all is we want more, more and more of less. This has gone unchecked for so long we accept the notion of producing less for more.

As we measure our own self worth by standards set by others, we have very little time to even think about what we need to do. Our individuality is being dictated by someone who does not have our best interest in mind. Our advertising is so cleverly deceiving our view of our own products and services is so distorted we think it better to buy from someone who may not have our best interest in mind. Mass production has robbed us of all the valuable knowledge to live in peace and harmony, no more personal touch.

We’re supposed to be improving, but how is that when I think less of myself than yesterday? I think less not because of my own value, because without you I am nothing. If everything is a trick, how do you ever know the real value.
