You hear lots of jargon about the latest breaking news, live reports, official; is any of this information new, is it accurate, tainted…?
The news and information, we get today, is controlled, censored bits and pieces selected for mainstream sources and published as daily news. Much of the important information is even left out and we call that unbiased reporting.
What we’re really getting is information selected to entertain our boredom. How is this really what’s happening around us? Many of us have labeled this kind of news and current events which has no bearing on what’s actually happening around us. I’m watching racism and violence in Ferguson to distract from racism and violence in my own hometown.
Far-reaching and varied, they say news is published this way to keep from being directed towards individuals, but aren’t participants and audiences made up of individuals. Isn’t that why you want to see news, to get the truth? They say the news is educational and important to help us avoid repeating the same mistakes. Yet, we keep coming up with more clever intrusive devices to hear more negative news.
How old does news have to be to be considered too old? Can a criminal be excused from his crimes because they are too old? That says, you think you can get away with crime, as long as you don’t get caught.
Now, my question to you is, “If the news we’re watching was so current, accurate, educational, beneficial… why we’re getting progressively worse instead of better?” Why aren’t we able to avoid these pitfalls - sound bits?
The trend is, “the more news we produce and watch the less productive we are”. You hear all this bad shit, but what can you do? Then, what good is knowing? Is that good news?
