At age 57 and never being hospitalized nor any major illness, my day finally came for the "life or limb” test . To my surprise it was a heart attack and I’m very grateful to be alive.
Although I’m pretty hard on our medical professionals for their practices and procedures, there’s something to be said when they save your life.
I went to the emergency room complaining of severe chest pains when the doctor discovered a life threatening blockage. He immediately took me into surgery to perform a coronary balloon angioplasty and stent procedure. Three hours later I was sent to ICU for two days of recovery.
Here’s the kicker to all of this is, my heart attack started at a friends house. She immediately gave me a full strength aspirin which doctors attribute to minimizing damage to my heart.
Life is all about playing the hand dealt you. Actually, I would love for somebody to deal me another hand right about now -- in more ways than one, but I’m going to play the one dealt until I can’t play any more.
