Human Progress, It's Getting Better All the Time, Economic Thinking, putting the gloom-and-doom industry out of business? "Chock full of good news that it's virtually guaranteed to cheer up even the clinically depressed. Moore and Simon dismantle the doomsday pessimism that's still so commonplace in academia and the media. The evidence they present is irrefutable: Give people freedom and free enterprise and the potential for human progress is seemingly limitless." —Lawrence Kudlow, Chief Economist, CNBC
Here are just a few of the ways the human condition has improved dramatically over the last 100 years: Life expectancy, wealth, leisure time, education, safety, gender and racial equality, freedom -- the world is a vastly better place today than it was a century ago, say co-authors Stephen Moore and the late Julian Simon in It's Getting Better all the Time: 100 Greatest Trends of the Last 100 Years.
the Cato Institute says more human progress has been achieved in the last 100 years…and it's Getting Better All the Time: 100 Greatest Trends of the Last 100 years.
My mind tells me this statement is so false and presents opportunity to write to prove how wrong they really were and still are, so we can better address what really going on. The truth shall set you free! I’m no doomsayer and I think truth will cause us to make the human progress really needed instead of lies and wishful thinking. This information is a very false and misleading, as a matter of fact, today is proof of how false this information really is. Things, in every way today, are in fact much worse than we care to admit.
Only those who lie wouldn’t want things to get better. What good does it do to think it, when it is actually getting worse? To what action would that inspire you, to something or nothing?
I’ve just taken a few of the things compared and using a different font color show what’s really happening. They’re ALL WRONG!
LIFE EXPECTANCY, so they say is better, but what good is that when your quality of life is deplorable. All you can think about is how to make more money, now what could be more depressing? All our life giving resources have been exploited to nonexistence or so polluted they’re not fit for human consumption.
WEALTH: Though we earn more money our self-inflicted inflation rates causes it not to go near as far as it went. Couple that with just two of many other factors, jobs have gone away and poorer quality of workmanship, our economy is doomed for failure.
Our children spend the first 20 plus years of their lives in formal institutions of education only to graduate to false hopes and dreams.
LEISURE TIME: Leisure time from what, stress levels today are greater than ever before because we’re too busy trying to get out of work instead of getting the job done. The trend here is we’re training to get out of work, with more money and now we’re out of work and no money.
EDUCATON: We have more formal education, but considerably less book sense, common sense and wisdom, what a travesty. The trend here is the more formal education the less we do.
SAFETY: We’ve got more police and crime than ever before. The trend here is more police the more crime, from whom are we protecting ourselves?
GENDER AND RACIAL EQUALITY: Our reasoning for committing such horrific crimes against humanity can never justify what we call progress today. It’s not what you do as much as how.
FREEDOM: Today, we have considerably less freedom, but more opportunities for those who can afford them. And if we ever want to be free, we must give a truth assessment to what we did so we may reap the intended results, together. The truth shall set you free.
