My Adoption

This was my first transition.

While playing under the house and after a long day of learning I did not have to go to school, my favorite aunt came driving up. She was my granny's sister and took on the role of my granny after my granny died. Out of all my relatives she took the most time for us.

It was nothing unusual and shortly after arriving I could hear raised voices coming from inside the house. It was my mom and my aunt engaged in a argument about why I wasn't in school. Realizing I was the subject of the argument I was very still so I could hear what was being said.

I heard my aunt tell  my momma how negligent she was for sending me to school by my self and that I was old enough to go to school and she was going to take me to school. After hearing this, my  thoughts were, "not again".

In a "I know you can't do that tone of voice", I heard my momma call for me. Knowing what they had been discussing, I had to act as if I did not know why she was calling for me. I was so nervous, when my momma told me to pack my school clothes  because I was going with my aunt to school.

Now, I was going to my aunt's house where everything was prim and proper. After getting settled we woke up the next morning, had a beautiful breakfast and she drove me to school. As I sat in the office, my aunt went behind closed doors with an official. Not understanding what was transpiring, she came out and told me to "come on". When we got in the car she told me I start school tomorrow, so I need my clothes. We drove back to my house and she told me to go get all my clothes. I heard her tell my momma she would see to it that I went to school from this day forward.
