Your Light

Ler Your Light Shine Bright
I have had a wonderful career for over thirty-five years helping young people reach their educational goals. Today, I received an email from one of my former employees to thank me for encouraging them to strive for their dreams. He wanted to let me know he remembered what I told him almost twenty years ago, “keep your eye on the prize…no matter how many bumps are in the road, hold on because the road will get smooth when you get around the corner.” He reached his goal and is now a professor at a college.
His email caused me to stop and think about the number people who inspired me over the years to stay focused and reach for the stars. There is one person whose advice I still follow. In one of my most frustrating moments, she looked me in the eyes and said “patience is bitter but its fruits are sweet.” These words still keep me going. Her light was bright enough to get my attention and it’s still shinning.
We all have a light, the question is do we let it shine bright enough for others to see? Are we so caught up into our own little worlds, our lights are dim? We all have trials and tribulations but I can assure you if you take the focus off of self, your troubles will seem minor or disappear.
My ultimate goal is to let my light shine bright for others. I want to inspire everyone I come in contact. I want people to know trouble doesn’t last forever as long as they believe in self and view every negative event as a lesson.
Learn from it and move forward. Remember, there is always tomorrow, if you wake up.
