Servant

Serve do not strive

Being competive, being in the top ten, the head of our class, being number one is a big part of our success system, our lifestyle choices. They are who we most often chose to pattern our lives after.

Well here are some problems that creates: there is always somebody left holding the bag and you would not be number one, without their contribution, small or great. Well, who else would you measure up against? There is always someone better than you. The money becomes the reward and not the satisfaction of being good team players. Cheating may become an issue. People priorities change and get all out of wack.

Can you not see you are polluting your soul with the success-oriented way of living? The idea of working around the clock, 24/7 and multiple jobs, just to make ends meet. What kind of happy life is that? We are shooting ourselves in the foot and I am caught up in too. Heck, who does not want to be number one?

I am also learning why my life, my schedule and that of those around me are so hectic. Why do I not have quality time for the more important things in life. And I had the nerve to jump in with you. Then, I knew this is not the kind of lifestle. Believe it or not, I was doing all of that so I could live a peaceful, drama free lifestyle, one day. Just does not make any sense does it--working, competing and breaking ones neck to get ahead of anyone?

Why work for it, when you can be living it? When competition leads to bickering and arguing, somebody needs their feet washed. Is the number one person willing to wash the feet? We are suppose to share together and love one another. When competition leads to that, it is a good thing.

One good deed deserves another.

It is great when we have a servant attitude and even greater when the servant is happy serving.

How do we get and maintain that?

Will any one of you, who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep, say to him when he has come in from the field, Come at once and sit down at table? Or would you rather say, Prepare supper for me, and gird myself and serve me, till I eat and drink; and afterward you shall eat and drink?

Would you thank the servant because he did what was commanded?

When you have done all that is commanded you, say, We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.

Hearts exposed, attitudes corrected, servants take care of Servants.

Only a few can be number 1, but we all can be great".
