If you are a habitual pessimist, you know there's nothing worse than bouncy optimists. Everything is great all the time. Just do like me and you want have any problems. I am not a habitual pessimist but I do believe in being prepared for the worst possible scenario. Habitual thought patterns are like ruts on a dirt road. The mind slips into them over and over, and at first, steering down another route appears extremely difficult. May be even a waste of time. Stopping habitual thoughts as they flash along these pathways. Turning one's mental energy to a new way of thinking, requires an effort that is not merely impressive but heroic. Maturing responsibly and helping others as we grow.
