Remember the guy swinging the sword? College students, one attacking the other with a sword. An armed combatant who entertained audiences in the Roman Republic and Roman Empire ... Roman Gladiators.

They signified their decision either by pressing the thumb against the forefinger as a sign of good omen (apparently), thereby sparing his life, or by turning the thumb upwards or towards the breast to signify the death-stroke.

They put their lives on the line to entertain the public and the public was entertained. Games? What if we stopped playing games? Mortal games?
