As a matter of fact, this year's book at many colleges and universities is Animal, Vegetable, Miracle.
It was co-authored by a family, and I was able to hear the speech by the daughter when she spoke last month to the freshman class. It's quite a story.
It's mostly about growing and buying food locally and doing it logically.
Sustainable living by sustainable farming
Sustainable living is really a big topic now-and it's big on campuses now. Also, Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan is really good, popular, and is about sustainable farming (among other diets that humans have had over the centuries-including our newest and seemingly most dangerous industrial diet, our fast food diet, the agricultural society's diet, etc).
