The Gambia, Ogbonna Mossi and Toubakolong’s Partnership...

Ogbonna Mossi and Toubakolong’s Appeal to you.

"We Are The World, There are people dying And its time to lend a hand to life."-- Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie

Our mission is an outreach to everyone, but in particular to African Diasporas. So please allow me to be the first to welcome and invite you to take a look at our programs and what we have to offer.

Thinking outside the box? Nations on the African continent are in need of more help from global thinkers and profit seekers. A recent New York Times column (Out of Sight, Bob Herbert, June 10, 2008) lamented, there are nearly four million teenagers and young adults between 16 and 24 who are unemployed and not in school, wh are "no one’s constituency," and who survive every day by “hustling”. The author further opines they represent the greatest “destablizing” factor in society though they are a great resource of “untapped talent. The fact is, the great majority of this group is young black men, considered widely as disconnected and disposable.More over, nearly one million more young black men are incarcerated, making up 50% of the prison population of the United States of over two million people, the highest incarceration number and rate in the world. Some have concluded that this suggests something is wrong with black young and the opposite of that is there is an ongoing system of discrimination and racism, resulting in blacks having the highest poverty rate and facing wht Mr. W.E.B DuBois called “the bottom of hardship”.

Worse there has been sudden inundation of drugs amongst poor and blacks. After Ogbonna Mossi, founder of this partnership, buried the sixth black boy he had mentored, he recognized the urgency of developing an alternative plan for the reclamtion of our youth, toward the recovery of black families and communities. This partnership believes the creation of new, alternative economic opportunities for our youth is the answer. Our goal being to act with the immediacy required by the moment in the establishment of model youth cooperative enterprises.

Toubakolong Partnerships desire to operate programs and expeditions around the world in partnership with sustainable community initiatives, bringing people together to work side-by-side while sharing perspectives and fostering cultural understanding.

Today, the computer and internet has made the world a lot smaller and the opportunity for a first world country to help a third world country is greater and vice-versa. Many, especially Diaspora Africans are looking to fulfill that dream of working abroad. Toubakolong and Mr. Ogbonna is a great project to support. It is a small, ground floor opportunity with great potential and truly deserving of whatever support you can lend.

Discover one of the world's most diverse continents and see firsthand the challenges it faces and how you can make a positive impact with The Toubakolong Partnership.

As an American working abroad, Mr. Ogbonna is better able to ensure you get the experience for which you are seeking.

His volunteers receives the greatest value for the exchange, work side-by-side with local people in community organizations focused on supporting social services, education, and health initiatives. As a volunteer in The Gambia, you will gain unparalleled access to a country that is diverse in landscape and rich with the traditions of West African culture.
